Valerie Mimura has been teaching piano for over a decade. She has a BA in Music with an emphasis in Piano Pedagogy, a BA in Arts Administration and a BA in Elementary Education. She is certified in Kindermusik for the pre-school to elementary grades. She is also involved in the HMTA, HPTA, National Guild of Piano Teachers, Mu Phi Epsilon, and is a Chorus Instructor.
She teaches piano to share with all ages the gift of music and to give others the opportunity to experience how music can enrich their lives. Valerie specializes in small group lessons. Emphasizing cooperative learning and interactive instruction. She also teaches private lessons for her more advanced students and has adult classes as well.
Valerie also organizes programs to increase music appreciation among her students. Throughout the year she organizes trips to the Symphony or the Opera. She also coordinated and directed the chorus for the Opera, "Tales of Hoffman", performed by the Salt Lake Elementary School in conjunction with the Hawaii Opera Theatre through the Opera For Everyone Program.
